ISABELLA'S SHIELD
In this story, Isabella has little hope for her future. She realizes that being lady in the 1300’s is not always easy, as the path she’s facing in her young life, is not what she had ever envisioned. She clings to her faith, longing to escape to Cropton, to her sister’s home in the country. Isabella finds protection in Matheu of Thorneton, a tournament knight, willing to offer his assistance. It seems an act of God has brought them together, and yet duty to others will continue to keep them apart. Isabella and her sister are soon thrust into a bleak situation where she’s forced to consider the proposal of another man’s hand in marriage, one she clearly doesn’t love. Will she accept his offer, due to her hopeless situation, or will she take a chance and risk everything for love? |
