A GATE CALLED BEAUTIFUL
Seth watches the beautiful, young crippled woman on the streets with the ragged clothes and dark strands of unkempt hair and wants to give her coins for her cup. He’s drawn to the radiance in her eyes and her sweet smile, despite her unfortunate circumstances. As he crosses the street, he turns and then looks back. His heart sinks when he finds her gone. Maybe another day, their paths will cross. Claudia witnesses the miracles happening around her, as Yeshua reaches out and heals people, including some of her closest friends. Her quest to be healed takes her to dusty, roadside curbs, on the paths around the Sea of Galilee, through mountainous terrain on the way to Jerusalem, and lastly to the foot of the cross, where she learns what ultimate sacrifice means. Just when she imagines she has it all, her dreams are crushed and her vision shattered. Will she attain what she desires, even more than her healing? Or had her single-minded faith been in vain? |
Ancient Times...A GATE CALLED BEAUTIFUL was written in the times of Jesus' ministry on earth. There were many people who lived on the streets who were despised and considered unclean. Jesus didn't hold to these beliefs. He never turned away the 'unclean'. He reached out and healed some of their bodies, but more importantly, he healed their hearts and minds.

Ancient Architecture...The buildings were made of stone, and bricks made of mud and straw. Some people lived in tent dwellings, but during the time of my story, most did not. There were usually only two rooms in a home during this period. Designs were simple.

Ancient History...Jesus walked the earth during the time of my book. There were many political factions vying for power during this time. Rome ruled, but there were Hebrew religious rulers who retained some power under the jurisdiction of Rome. Capernaum was a trade town where many people came to buy and sell goods.
